Michigan officials cite stronger economy and higher employment as key reasons taxes under the ten year plan are likely to exceed 15 million dollars paid in 1935. The plan cancels accrued interest on old bills and offers 4 percent interest for 1932 and prior years, boosting collections and easing burdens on property owners.
About 150 people attended the sixth Fosdick school reunion on Thursday August 20. A noon potluck dinner followed letters from Harry Lee Baker Tallahassee John Reeves Seattle and Lulu Fairbanks Seattle. Officers elected were President Gottlieb Girbach Vice President C H Schroen Secretary Mrs Charles Kern Treasurer Laura Kaiser. Sports were directed by Mrs Charles Kern and Mrs Donna Bradbury. Out of state guests included Mrs Clara Suddaby Los Angeles and Mrs Lydia Dierberger Great Falls.

Katherine Briggs joins local school faculty succeeding Esther Bowen who resigned.
Fred Schmid and son William fished Bishop lake Monday and returned about 6 p m with two pikes weighing nearly seven and four pounds, a bullhead near two pounds, and several bluegills. The publisher and wife enjoyed many bluegills Tuesday. Ralph McHenry previously held the local pike record with a four and a half pound catch.
Frank Camburn, Treasurer, lists banking dates at Citizens Bank on August 22 and Savings Bank on August 29 for Saline City taxes. He notes bank hours include afternoon and evening and encourages readers to save on subscriptions by reading ads and sharing copies with friends.
The 1936 Michigan drought worsens beyond 1934 in northern districts and western counties. July 1 to August 1 pasture conditions fell from 68 to 35 percent of normal. Wheat and rye fared better. oats and barley suffered. Corn stands scattered with hopes tied to rains. potato yields declined with heat. Michigan cherry output reaches 27,450 tons as state leads in cherry production.

The service includes a call to worship and selections such as Holy Holy Holy and O Lord Most Holy, with a sermon on Divine Praise. Sunday school follows at 11 15 with H A Holmes as superintendent.
On Thursday evening August 20 at Mrs Fred Stephenson’s home the marriage of Mrs Eliza beth Dell to Charles Alber was performed by Rev C H Wittbracht. The couple left for Gull Lake and visited nearby places before returning Monday night. The Observer offers congratulations.
