Detroit officials announce the Michigan State Fair will again host husband and hog calling contests from September 1 to 7. Prizes are 15 10 and 5 dollars. Open to any farmer worldwide for hogs and to any person aged 18 to 80 who has or may have a husband for the husband contest.
The School of Music at the University of Michigan revealed the 51st annual Choral Union Series for 1929 30 in Hill Auditorium Ann Arbor with dates and performers including Giovanni Martinelli Ossip Gabrilowitsch Ignace Paderewski Flora Mann Nellie Carson Lillian Berger Norman Notley Cuthbert Kelly the Len er Budapest String Quartet Claudia Muzio Jascha Heifetz Vladimir Horowitz Elizabeth Rethberg and the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. Also noted is a local fire prevention note from Fowlerville Review where farmer Ralph Teeples saved his grain and buildings by using a water tank and pails after a tractor back fired.
