Death of Arthur Merkel in Michigan hospital
Blood poisoning from a neck carbuncle caused Arthur Merkel of Sylvan to die at University of Michigan Hospital on Tuesday after being brought in Sunday. Officials believe infection spread from threshing dust and dirt while he worked prior to illness. his condition worsened rapidly until death. In a separate note, the Manchester Enterprise recalls earth-constructed houses using rammed earth and cement-like blocks built with wooden forms, an Ann Arbor example cited.
