Michigan farmers warn on defrauded Shorthorn bulls
Field men from Michigan Agricultural College report cattle breeders selling plainbred Shorthorns as stock company bulls at up to nine times their value. Palmer Brothers of Belding are named among dealers. investigation by M A C extension staff and county agent Alexander MacVittie shows buyers pay $900 per bull with little regard to pedigree. The cooperative plan, started by the college in 1906, is misused for private gain, while genuine bulls can be bought for $350 to $400.
