Miss Mary Yedele of Saline and John H Butler were quietly married at the groom's home in Simcoe Ontario on Thursday evening April 14. The couple rekindled a romance dating from Saline years ago after long separations, and Mr Butler, now a photographer in Simcoe, renewed their acquaintance leading to the marriage.
The Saline Common Council met Monday evening April 4 1921 with President Fuoss presiding. Trustees Curtiss Ford Barr Bredernitz Rentschler attended. Blaess absent. Curtiss acted as clerk pro tem. Committees were named and confirmed. bills were read and allowed. Appointments included village marshal C H Garven, health officer J B Wallace MD, street commissioner Fred Luckhardt, and assistant engineer Charles W Marken. George W Seeger named fire chief. Meeting adjourned subject to call.
Sunday services drew strong interest with active church school and near twenty cent per capita offering. Miss Neva Lovewell, from W C A at the University, will address Epworth League with a reception and refreshments. Public worship at 10 am and 7:30 pm, Children’s Week upcoming, urging religious education for every child.
An apportionment shows three month totals for motor vehicle license tax and related fees near 5 million dollars. Full year 1920 receipts were 5,644,583 while 1919 totals were 3,719,433. If growth continues, 1921 could reach 7 to 8 million. Revenue is split: half to counties for highways and half to the state for road maintenance and rewards.
The Saline Woman's Club met Tuesday April 12 at Miss Smith's home to elect officers and review reports. Miss Aprill provided music. next meeting set for April 26 at Mrs Unterkircher's.
