Farmers See Higher Prices Says Ag Dept Report

The Agriculture Department says farmers saw a two percent rise in prices from mid February to mid-March. By March 15 the ratio of prices received to prices paid stood at 32 percent of parity, up one point from February. Prices received were 230 percent of the 1910-14 average, with tomatoes, potatoes, and cotton driving the crop index higher. Livestock prices rose only slightly as milk, eggs, and calves weighed on the gains. Farmers paid modestly more for family living and production goods as food and feeder livestock prices led the overall rise.
