Hundredth Anniversary of Saline Tecumseh Highway
The Clinton Local recalls the 100 year old Saline Tecumseh road project from J N Satterthwaite, Tecumseh dealer, noting two teams from Saline and Tecumseh meeting near Aten cemetery to clear timber and build the roadbed. The route served Detroit Adrian travel before US 112 and M 52 upgrades. A barn owl found on James Kendall farm is kept for possible zoo donation.

Observations on capital punishment voiced by Edward Frensdorf
Edward Frensdorf of Hudson, former warden of Jackson State Prison and noted criminologist and banker, argues most wardens oppose capital punishment. He says over 70 percent of lifers are first offenders who can be rehabilitated, while others have lengthy criminal records. He questions killing a man when he might be remade and cites Illinois 1938 convictions with few executions, plus Michigan's one trial of capital punishment.
