John Beall & Co plans to purchase two acres in the Swift Tract on the Peninsula near Columbia Boulevard and the O R N tracks. A two story and basement plant will manufacture corrugated iron gables culverts water tanks troughs and curbings with a $50 000 capital investment. About sixty men to be employed after completion next spring. The company will use 99.94 percent pure galvanized iron to avoid rust and ensure durability.

Death of Mrs. Amanda Couch in Henry County

The Henry County Signal reports Amanda Couch born June 9 1828 in Herkimer County New York died October 13 1909 at 51. She moved to Lorain Ohio at 22 and married C T Couch in 1854 producing six children five sons and one daughter all living. A longtime member of the M E church she was noted for her patient faith and devotion to God.

Large Catholic mass fills French block parish

A packed crowd attended the first mass for the de nomination at the French block last Sunday. A baptism occurred and an Altar Society was formed. Next Sunday services include two masses and a Sunday school session between them. Father F J Kettenhofer, in charge of the parish, pledges active work for St Johns.

Ralph W. Reynolds of University Park and Sophia J. Murphy of Portland were married Saturday evening by Rev. C P Gates at the Evangelical parsonage. Dr Rambo departed Sunday for Spokane and will be away about two weeks. Thousands of new settlers have moved to Oregon and Washington during the colonist rate period and are now building homes.
