Spur to St Johns Dock Rail Link Planned at City Dock
The St Johns city dock will gain a spur track from the O W R N line to the municipal dock at St Johns at an estimated cost of 24000. The plan includes plans and specs by Engineer G B Hegardt and approval by Dock Commissioner Ben Elling with support from Commissioners Bargard and Averill. The dock handles grain and sulphur currently, with 5500 tons wheat capacity and 8200 tons sulphur stored. A steel for grain elevator purchase from Pacific Coast Steel Seapeny for 873 per ton including freight was approved, plus 60 feet by 60 feet land acquisition for the spur.
