Fatal Fall During Willamette Bridge Work Claims Walquist
The second fatality among the railroad bridge crew near the Willamette occurred Friday when Harry Walquist, a lock tender, stepped backward from a pier and fell into the river. Rescue failed and drowning ended his life. his body was recovered Saturday beneath the air scow. Walquist, 24, a native of Bellingham, Washington, had lived in St Johns for four months and left a young wife.
