New Vision At St Johns Church Services
Last Sunday at St Johns Christian church a pledge of two thousand dollars was raised in under fifteen minutes to fund a new church home. Under Dr H F Jones leadership giving is seen as joyous not compulsory. The church school is inspired by the Portland School of Methods with five teachers earning diplomas. The music program is now led by Mrs Isbell and a refined Easter service is planned from ten to twelve on Easter Sunday. A pre Easter rally starts Monday evening with sessions led by different education committees. The school won a Workers Library prize at the County 8.5 convention for high officer and teacher participation. A place exists for volunteers to join the church school.

Fire damages St. Johny Hardware hall after stove fire
Fire Sunday afternoon at about one pm broke out above the St. Johna Hardware store. Four fire departments fought the blaze. The janitor left a stove burning, water damage worsened when a faulty upper floor opening let water flood the hardware company's office. Damage estimated around $400 to building. water caused the largest loss. Firemen extinguished the flames before further harm.
