A large crowd attended a boxing program by the Firemen's Athletic club last Thursday. Lebel Woolf Com opens big plant on Peninsula

Lebel Woolf Company has bought a large Peninsula tract from Swift, erecting several buildings of Howe truss design for wood pipe manufacture. Two large dry kilns, boilers, and electric machinery will power a plant employing about 150 workers initially, expanding later. The facility will produce wood pipes from two inches to 13 feet diameter and railroad tanks, consuming 1,000,000 feet of lumber and 2000 tons of steel annually, with tank contracts for Western Pacific and Chicago Milwaukee St Paul railroads.

Something Big to Build Portland Fireproof Warehouses

J H Nolta, a Killingsworth avenue dealer in building supplies, announces a company soon to incorporate to build one of the largest fireproof warehouses in Portland. He has an option on an acre and a half tract on the lower Peninsula of the O R & N road with docks. The tract will be covered with warehouses wood and coal yards docks and a rolling mill to be built. Final expenses are estimated near 75000. The building will come in time to assist the grain crop and related mills and processes.

A long standing business in Meek yards began in September with 19 cars attended. The market has benefited the city and regional livestock growers through competitive trading of cattle and mutton, with prices noted as high.

Oregon Exhibit Car Aims to Attract Settlers East

Great Northern president Louis W. Hill plans an Oregon advertising exhibit tour of the East. A car will display fruits grains grasses vegetables and other Oregon products with a lecturer and literature to lure home seekers. Oregon public officials and merchants are urged to support the campaign. The text also notes penalties for ordinance violations and contemplated license changes for dogs and businesses.

Time needed for Fessenden street improvement plans

The work on Fessenden street will take longer than expected with at least 90 days before legal proceedings can start. A projected August contract, subject to no contingencies, follows a five week window for an improvement resolution, ordinance, and bids. Swift & Co Plans New Peninsular Headquarters

Expanding firm Swift & Co has begun erecting a two story frame building 60 by 100 feet at their peninsula site to house the office force. Estimated cost is 15000 with completion in 60 days. Packing plant work starts March 14 and all departments should be ready by then. Earlier delays were caused by inadequate foundations.
