New St Johns Park Planned Along Scenic Riverfront

Portland plans a sixty acre St Johns park with rolling hills, a deep ravine, evergreens, and views across river lowlands to mountains. The boulevard system will provide multiple entrances including Meyers street and Seneca Brace Weyerhauser Reno and St Johns avenues. Facilities include two baseball fields tennis courts four regulation courts a field house and a woodland lake with a protected play area for children and open play for the broader community.

St Johns Chautauqua Opens In Big Brown Tent For Seven Days

The St Johns Chautauqua opens Sunday night in a big brown tent on Central school grounds with 2:30 and 8:00 p.m. sessions daily. Junior Chautauqua runs 9:30 to 11:30 each day under Miss Eva Dell Knapp. J L White of Spokane, new director, brings six summers on the Ellison White circuit and a seven day schedule across about 140 towns. Opening program features Bernell Ford the electrical beard. Local social notes include a Mary Carr birthday surprise and numerous community friends and events.
