Odd Fellows Visit St Helens for Grand Lodge Installation

About 45 to 50 Odd Fellows from the peninsula and St Johns visited St Helens Lodge No. 117 for a grand installation. Uther W. Clark delivered the charges without a prompter, and the officers were installed amid praise. Visitors from Buffalo, South Omaha, and Minneapolis joined roughly 125 in attendance. The event included initiation work and a late-night feast featuring clam chowder and shrimp salad.

City Council Discusses Ferry Boat Sale and Street Upgrades

The 44th council meeting notes a petition to sell the ferry James Johns and have the county operate it. They also consider Thompson Street grading, lighting at several intersections, and water front improvements. Budget items and cement walk ordinances are discussed along with employing unemployed for city wood procurement.

Laurel lodge hosts club outing on the Columbia River

The report describes a lodge gathering aboard the Multnomah on the Columbia River with brotherly speeches and lively hospitality. Dr. Clift led the refreshments and demonstrations, while Wim M. Ross gave an instructive address. A note praises the January issue of the Northwest Poultry Journal and urges subscriptions.

Doric Lodge Installed by Masons in City

The Doric lodge A F and A M received a dispensation and was installed last Saturday with M W Lot Pierce of Oregon Grand Lodge and visiting dignitaries from Portland Salem and Eugene in attendance. Officers include Joseph Mc Chesney W M Allen R Jobes S W and J F Hendricks treasurer. Doric lodge will meet the first and third Saturdays at 7:30 PM at Jersey and Leavitt Streets. Master Masons invited.

Brooks Arrives in Juneau Sends Cheerful Update

J C Brooks reports arrival in Juneau after a brief stay of about twenty minutes before heading to type. He praises the weather and scenery from Seattle to Juneau, notes no need for a heavy coat but carries an umbrella, and promises a sample copy from his paper. He mentions plans to exchange papers and hopes to strike it rich soon.
