Fire at East St. Johns Lumber Plant Destroyed

A Friday night fire at Pitchless Lumber Company's East St. Johns plant consumed the mill and stock except for the police building and a storage room. Night watchman M. Mackey discovered fumes ten minutes after his rounds. Incendiary origin is suspected. Loss estimated at 21 500 with 6 500 insurance. St. Johns and Kenton fire departments fought the blaze but the plant, idle for two weeks, could not be saved.

Charity Ball At Skating Rink By Bachelor Club

The Bachelor Club hosted a charity ball at the skating rink Monday evening. Nearly 100 couples attended as Rudd's orchestra provided music and the floor remained superb for a flawless night. About half of the proceeds supported a Christmas fund for those in need.
