Ft Zumwalt School District in Review Part Two
In 1949 residents formed Central R If School District of St. Charles County to handle rising enrollments. A six member board led by Ben Feldewirth and principal Joseph Mudd built a growing system with PTA backing, bond funded additions, and new schools from Vigil Street to St. Peters and Lewis and Clark. The district expanded to seven buildings, over 200 staff, and 4500 students with the high school alone at 1280 students.
