Police Chief Marvin Grimmer argues continuances are justified whether an officer or the defendant is absent in court. The city council discussed the Police Judge's report showing 803 cases, with three dismissed where the arresting officer did not appear.
Sheriff Koester proposes a central county dispatch office for all law enforcement in St Charles County. The plan envisions mutual aid among cities and counties, with Federal aid likely, and a phased setup starting with five to six dispatch units and overlapping shifts.
The Senior Fellowship group invites everyone aged 50 and older to weekly sessions on Tuesdays at St Johns Hall located at South and Tompkins. Hours run 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Transportation help available by contacting ET or AWA and CE during the week in Columbia, while a February circuit court hearing for a second magistrate judge is set for 9 a.m. Tuesday March 4 in Las Vegas.
Downtown crowding triggers review of adding a multi level lot near Second and Washington. A two level structure beside St Joseph Hospital will hold about 180 cars, while a Capitol lot and Moose Building site add roughly 75 spaces. Current permits total 121 at four dollars monthly, with many holders parking off lot.

Curtis Burkemper of O Fallon, associate judge of the County Court Western District, will not seek re election this year. Burkemper, a Republican, will complete his second two year term at year end.
