Air Pollution Tied to Disease
Health Secretary John W. Gardner told a Senate subcommittee that air pollution contributes to rising chronic respiratory diseases including lung cancer emphysema bronchitis and asthma. He warned that some pollutants may affect the common cold and noted new hazards from accelerating science. Surgeon General Stewart called for further atmospheric studies on air pollution risks.

Chesapeake and Ohio Orders 400 ACF Bulk Cars for Rail Grain
The Chesapeake and Ohio Railway and its affiliate Baltimore and Ohio Railroad placed a 5.7 million dollar order with ACF Industries for 400 Center Flow dry bulk cars to haul grain and other commodities. Delivery starts in early 1967 with 100 cars for C O and 300 for B O. cars are 100 tons and 4750 cubic feet, built at Huntington West Virginia with continuous loading hatches and three gravity outlets.
