A Mother and Baby Care class begins Thursday July 7 at 730 PM in the St. Charles Red Cross office 1511 Waverly Street. Mrs Earl J Wipier Jr RN teaches. aimed at first baby parents but open to all prospective parents. Husbands urged to attend. Pre-register by calling RA 4 2277.
Miss Joan Marie Finck, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Finck of 1112 Hemsath Road, has received the Alice Linnemann Guy Motley Scholarship awarded annually by the St Charles Lindenwood College Club. The recipient will attend Lindenwood College and the scholarship amount is not stated.
Four hundred thirty seven pupils attend summer classes at Lincoln and McKinley schools, the largest elementary summer enrollment. The program emphasizes language arts phonics reading and writing and a remedial math track with student created materials. Lincoln leads with 281 pupils and McKinley 156. Fourth grade totals reach 68 and eighth graders 31. In fall $200 will apply toward tuition for a student. Miss Finck from Francis Howell High School is profiled with multiple leadership roles and scholarships.
The St Charles County Young Republican Club will hold its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday July 12 at 7 30 p m at the St Charles Savings and Loan Association 120 Jefferson St Guest speaker will be Mr Ed Stone Republican candidate for State Senator in the new 26th District Refreshments will be served.
