Mrs. Ralph Pieper visited the Civic Park Building display in O'Fallon to view Grand Award winner Jane Hoormann of St. Mary's Academy explaining leaf life cycles. Jane described how different leaves decompose to enrich soil.
Holt and Frappier discuss a tax credit measure for private and parochial school tuition. If approved, it could cost the state under 600000, with most credits via church contributions. A constitutional amendment would be needed and a settlement on church state issues unlikely soon. The Ways and Means Committee has only begun hearings. The tax protest suit against railroads and utilities continues to drag on.
