German visitors Mrs Zenta Alscher and Miss Gertraud Rothammer arrived in O Fallon from Germany on July 22 joining Mr and Mrs Ronald Ryne for a month long visit departing August 26 for home. Anniversary notes, births and club notices follow with local events, baptisms, and a veterans travel advisory.
Amber Williams won the A Flight for the best golf score at Sycamore Country Club last Thursday. B Flight was topped by Mary Lee Wahler, delivering a tight shootout among local players at the club.
Left fielder Jerry Burbes of the Ft. Campbell Eagles headlines the Western Division chase in the Third Army Softball League with a .531 batting average and 13 RBIs and three homers. A Missouri graduate and St. Charles native, Burbes also coaches high school sports before his 1971 military service. Also noted is the St. Louis Chapter American Institute of Banking dinner at the Missouri Athletic Club on Aug. 23 with attendance by top executives from regional banks.
