Grass fire charred 40 acres on Clarence Zerr farm south of St Peters
Volunteer crews from three St Charles County districts fought a grass fire on the Clarence Zerr farm south of St Peters. The blaze, likely sparked by a trash dump, burned 40 acres but was contained within three fire downs with winds at 100 degrees and threats to a barn and the Zerr house averted. St Peters chief credited cooperation of St Peters St Charles and O Fallon districts for preventing further damage.
