Democrats sweep several cities in New York and Virginia
New York and Virginia voters delivered sweeping Democratic victories on Tuesday with gains in New York City and Indianapolis mayoralties, while Virginia backed John Garland Pollard for governor amidst a backlash against the anti Smith coalition. Kentucky rebuffed the Republican effort to win state control. In New York, Republicans led in the Twenty first district returns and Louisville reelected its mayor by a large margin.
