The Lincoln Sheriff's Office records October collections of 13561.54 from multiple sources to fund department expenses and related needs. Steel Sheds Being Built Behind James Office Building

Large steel frame sheds are being erected at the rear of the James Building to house cars used by members of the F. L. James Investment Company and its employees. Interior changes include a new bookkeeping department space and office arrangements on the first and second floors.

Raymond Heard Sells Home on Vienna Street to Dr Crawford

Raymond Heard announced he sold his brick home on South Vienna Street to Dr J E Crawford of this city. Heard will release possession December 1 and plans to build a new four acre home on Georgia Avenue with frontage at Mississippi Avenue. The Crawford residence is described as one of Ruston’s most modern and complete homes.

Large Attendance Marks Supper Of Local Legion Post

About thirty members of McFarland Post No.2 American Legion attended a stag supper at Manhattan cafe with a program by F A Rockwell. Miss Eugenia Sentell, Dallas Goss, and Ernestine Elder entertained. Rev S E McFadden spoke on the Everyday Work of a Minister. Armistice Day service planned at New Astor theatre 10:30 to 11 Monday morning November 11 with Rev Ernest Holloway giving the address. Legion members designated as speakers for area high schools and Ruston grammar schools. A Loving Cup for community service will be awarded by a committee led by Dr G W Bond. Membership drive led by Dr Rutledge during November 11–18.

Bienville Man Killed Two Hurt In Crossing Meet

In Winnfield Louisiana on November 7 1932 a roadster collided with a moving freight train at a poorly lit crossing on the Winnfield Atlanta highway. Malcolm Cummings 25 of Bienville died John Mixon of Atlanta and Miss Francois Frazier of Winnfield were seriously injured. Mixon swerved to avoid the train but could not prevent impact. Cummings father T J Cummings prepared to transport the body to Bienville for funeral services. Hoover invited nations to participate in a 1933 Chicago World’s Fair in a proclamation dated November 7 1932.

Masonic Chapter To Be Organized At Local College

Louisiana Tech students and faculty who are Masons formed a local Masonic club aiming to petition for a national college chapter. W. H. Britt was named president, with R. R. Reynolds, G. S. Bowers, and R. R. Rogers as officers and a new constitution adopted. Activities set for Nov. 21 at the Model School building, with active membership for Tech Masonry degree holders and honorary invites to staff.

Convictions In Third District Court Yesterday

In a district court session yesterday several defendants were convicted or had pleas entered. Sylvester Lewis pleaded not guilty to larceny of cotton valued at $6 and was discharged. Wallace Shields found guilty of carrying a concealed weapon. sentence deferred to November 25. Louis Bonner found guilty of carrying a concealed weapon. sentence deferred to November 25. Jim Towers fined 10 percent of his original sentence for running away from road camp. total $33.72, 42 days imprisonment if unpaid. J Mills found guilty of possession of intoxicating liquor. sentence deferred to November 26. Indictments against Lump Owens and John Davis were filed in connection with the Mills case by District Attorney W D Hammon.

Funeral Services For Mrs McClendon At Lisbon

Funeral services for Mrs. R. T. Mc Clendon 76 mother of Mrs. R. W. Vaughan will be held at Lisbon Methodist church this afternoon at 6 oclock with interment in Lisbon cemetery. She lived in the Lisbon area most of life, later with her daughter in Ruston. Survived by three daughters Mrs. Vaughan Mrs. W. S. Rudasill of Sherman Texas and Mrs. G. A. Kennedy of Rayne Louisiana eight grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. The WcClure hearse will transport the body to Lisbon at 1 30 p m. A large group of friends and relatives will attend. NOTICE Ruston Gin will gin November 2 and 16 the last day.

Female quartet organized from Band O Glee Girls

Prof Elbert Haskins announced a co-ed quartet from the Band O Glee Girls at Louisiana Tech. The four singers are Eugenia Seniell first soprano Agnes Robison second soprano Dot Roberts alto and Evelyn Fryoux contralto. The group will perform this year under director Haskins with songs arranged by eastern choral director S H Rhores.

Aged Citizen Pleasant W Alley Dies After Long Life

Pleasant W. Alley, aged 81, longtime Yazoo County farmer and fruit grower, died at his son's home in Ruston after a life of service to his church and Confederate memory. Survived by three children Charles C. Alley T L Alley and Mrs Thomas Hendricks plus seven grandchildren. wife predeceased him. Funeral attendees include relatives from Mississippi and Louisiana.

Armistice Day Program Well Attended Here

A large crowd gathered yesterday at the New Astor Theatre as the local American Legion Chapter held an Armistice Day memorial starting at 11 o clock. Dr Gustaf Freden master of ceremonies introduced Dr E L Holloway of Monroe who gave the principal address praising World War I soldiers. A special prayer followed and a moment of silent reflection for those who sleep in Flanders Fields. Many Legionnaires and their spouses attended.

The Methodist Episcopal Church South in Louisiana will convene in Lafayette on November 20 with Bishop Warren A. Candler of Atlanta presiding.
