Lincoln Parish bids sought for gasoline and diesel fuel

The Lincoln Parish Police Jury will receive bids until 10:30 a.m. on June 3, 1859, at the Courthouse in Ruston for supplying about 55 000 gallons of gasoline and about 27 000 gallons of diesel fuel to the parish highway barn for one year. Bids may be placed on either item separately. Specifications are available at the Police Jury office in Ruston, and the jury reserves the right to reject any or all bids.

Tech Prof to Attend Harvard Seminar in Summer

De. J. Leslie Bayless associate professor of marketing at Louisiana Tech has accepted a partial fellowship for the 1959 Summer Seminar program at Harvard Graduate School of Business. The program runs June 14 through August 7 with 20 college professors selected nationwide to study case method pedagogy and participate in formal and informal discussions. Bayless joined Tech in 1956 and earned degrees from Emporia State College and the State University of Iowa after teaching at Missouri. he will engage in case preparation discussions and observe Harvard classes while making business contacts in the Boston area.

Simsboro High seniors receive American Legion awards

At the Simsboro High School commencement, Richard Durrett and Eleanor Rodrigues won American Legion medals for character and service. Wands Skinner earned the gold scholastic key, Barbara Holley the Louisiana Tech scholarship, and Larry Kent the first annual Business Education award. Rodrigues also received the DAR Good Citizenship Award. speeches highlighted top graduates Wanda Skinner, Barbara Holley, and Geraldine Howard.

Special Education Teacher Obtained For Summer Session

Loutsiana Tech obtained Stanley EB. Fudell of Austen Texas to teach special education during part of the summer term with sessions starting June 9. He will offer a class on mentally retarded teenagers at Austin High School and has taught at Incarnate Word College in San Antonio. Mrs. June Baytess and Ralph Wooldridge will teach additional courses in special education during the term, each with credit hours.
