Memorial book gifts at Jackson Parish Library

The Jackson Parish Library displays memorial gifts including Roses for Every Garden by R C Allen in memory of Dr Jaime T Stinson given by Mrs Farr Richardson, My Wilderness The Pacific West by William C Douglas in memory of Mrs Mary Ella Gautreaux given by Mrs Google Malzacher and Mrs Frances Thompson, and Modern Parables in memory of Mr W T Holloway given by Mr and Mrs S H Frickie Jr and Steve Frickle. On exhibit at the central library in Jonesboro. Weekend visitors and local residents gathered at Hodge Clinic and Lowrey home for celebrations including Mr I B Lowrey’s 90th birthday with family from Rosenberg, West Monroe, Quitman, and Monroe.

Hico Hi Lites Junior Play Set For Thursday

March 23, 1961 at Hico High will feature the junior class play. Students received books for the production and it aims to outshine the senior efforts. The piece includes student costumes, skirts, and blouses being prepared. the event aligns with broader school activities and a nearby church gathering.

Norris Presides At PTC Meeting And School Rally

The PTC met Monday in the school auditorium with Mr. M. M. Norris presiding. The Glee Club sang from South Pacific under Mrs. Jane Cook. A film titled Artificial Repitation was shown. The ninth grade earned $2 for most parents present. Glen Swann and Mary Samsling will represent our school at the North Louisiana Rally with entries in English, biology, and American History. Juniors presented a Moving Westward unit in literature through four panel discussions. Basketball intramurals generated excitement as the girls’ junior division noted the 8th grade as winner.

Emmett Colvin Visits Family While in Area

Emmett Colvin of West Chester Pennsylvania, visiting Shreveport on business, stops by his parents Mr and Mrs S B Colvin for a weekend reunion. Weekend guests include Mr and Mrs S D Beard traveling to Lafayette to see daughter and son in law Mrs Bill Carter and Mr Carter. Also visiting are Mr and Mrs A Harris Hiro, Mr and Mrs Iva Harrison, and Mr and Mrs Leland Hall. A quilting party was held at Mrs A Wiltchers on Thursday.

Dubach Hi-lites Variety Baby Night Big Success

Mickey Waller reports on the Dubach Variety Night and Baby Contest raising funds for the senior trip fund to 1070 dollars. Vickie Davis won the Baby Contest. Rally Day set for Friday March 17 with students from grades 9 through 12 listed for attendance. boys lost Friday in a double-header to Bernice, then won both games Saturday 3-2 and 6-5.
