Asphalt Bid Is Taken By Ruston City Council
Ruston Louisiana Asphalt Corp. won an asphalt topping contract for city streets and power plant driveways at 9.20 and 9 per ton for different types. Mayor Beasley said 600 to 800 tons would be used and noted older blacktopped streets need renewal. The city will base prep while the company lays the topping. Officials also announced a Nordberg generator at the power plant passed inspection and the plant reached a 2000 KW load by noon. Water use hit two million gallons daily. The council also considered a go kart track on J. T. Richardson property but ruled noise would escape the lot. Revenue from the colored swimming pool totaled 142 first week, 60 second week, with weekly receipts from 23 to 31 thereafter. The body then inspected Water road work tying to Tech Farm road from Highway 167 South.
