Legislature Glances and Gaffes Highlight Baton Rouge Session
In a lively Baton Rouge House scene lawmakers trade quips on campaigns and tenure. Rep. Marshall Brown of Orleans enters as an announced gubernatorial candidate while Rep. Claude Kirkpatrick of Jennings scales back statewide ambitions. Visitors include Thibodaux Mayor Leonard Toups and veteran journalist Barnaby Krebs as captions of style and humor mix with routine motions. The chamber notes reshuffle with Tom Jowell gaining weight, George Tessier's strength, and Frank Fulco's candid governor lean. Amid banter, Lorris Wimberly questions loom of a possible run, Lt. Gov. Lether Frazar defends duties, and Emile Comare jokes about the governor's language. The parade of spouses, a rare calm from Sen. Bob Ainsworth, and the heaviest member Pad McGilligan punctuate the session atmosphere.
