Watermelon shipments rise from Ruston and Choudrant
The tenth car of watermelons left Ruston on the I C Tracks Saturday afternoon, following eight cars shipped from Choudrant earlier this week. Early-week shipments fetched top prices in St Louis, with a market dip noted in Choudrant. Lincoln Parish melons drew three car requests from Chicago, and if profits hold, ten more cars may depart next week. J A Shealy farm agent notes the crop’s extra good quality and potential for continued commercial farming pending final shipping results.
