Mrs Heard Rites Held On Wednesday

Mrs Heard aged 88 died Wednesday afternoon at her Ruston home. Widow of Stephen Joseph Menard she moved to Ruston in 1900 from Shiloh. A 50 year member of First Baptist Church she leaves son Raymond Heard and four grandchildren. Funeral services Wednesday at Kilpatrick Funeral Home with interment at Greenwood cemetery. Pallbearers were Raymond Heard Inc employees.

Jones Speaker For Law Tech Commencement

Fred We Juve, city judge of Ruston, will deliver the address at Ruston Louisiana Tech Law School commencement on Thursday August 4. Judge Jones, born in Rayville and a 1949 LSU Law School graduate, served in World War II and the Korean War and became city judge in 1954. He is active in the Louisiana Heart Association, Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home, Kiwanis, and veteran and juvenile judge groups.
