Fatal Burns Kill Former Vienna Lady
Seriously burned when her clothing was ignited from flames of a heating stove. Thursday morning Mrs. Jane, age 20, formerly of Vienna, died at the home of her daughter Mrs. 8 A. Love of Winnfield at 2 30 this morning. Funeral planned Saturday in Vienna with interment in Vienna cemetery. Surviving are Cleve Hornsby Vienna Grover Hornsby Ruston Ed Hornsby Arkansas Mrs 8 A Love Winnfield and Mrs Eula Bryant Texas. Ottawa Jan 23 Louis Dubue 68 proud for thirty reasons after his thirtieth child baptized. Twenty eight children still living. First wife died 15 years ago after giving 23 children. Second wife 38.

House OKs Bill for New Bridges Here
The House passed a bill by Congressman Riley J. Wilson authorizing the police jury of Morehouse parish and the Louisiana highway commission to build four free bridges over Bayou Bartholomew at Cory Bluffs Knox Ferry Bonner's Ferry and Parker's Ferry. The measure sailed on a unanimous consent calendar with minor spelling changes and now awaits Senate action and the president's signature. Also noted is a crop record of 145 17 bushels of potatoes per acre versus the national average of 115.

Forger Receives Long Prison Sentences in Penitentiary Notice
Official notice served by District Judge Stephen D. Pearce warns forgers of severe penalties. Harvey Shields, 34, native of Bienville parish, drew nine to fourteen years after pleading guilty to multiple hot check cases in the region. Shields was moved to Angola prison farm by Deputy Clyde Frasier. Luther McNeil, a black housebreaker and former Federal convict, received a five to six year term after pleading guilty to daytime breaking and entering. McNeil was transported to Baton Rouge by Deputy Praser.

In Bastrop on January 21, Jo Winn and Bo Webb were found guilty of murdering Bob Lee, a white man, with death penalty to be carried out on the wall. The governor will set the execution date. Defense sought to strike signed confessions obtained with Ouachita parish officials present.

Clyde S Rogers, Ruston to state board of education member, came back Tuesday night from Baton Rouge where he attended a meeting last week. The board approved the 1930 school budget and recommended $250000 for Louisiana Polytechnic Institute with similar actions for other state schools. Adrian Adams accompanied Rogers and they spent the weekend in New Orleans before returning home.

Sheriff and Clerk Freeze in Mississippi Tragedy
In Canton Mississippi on January 21 194? two officials die after their duck hunting boat capsized on Big Black River. Madison County Sheriff Joan W. Owen 46 and Chancery Court Clerk William B. Jones were found near a swampy area after a search party located Owen’s body and Jones in critical condition. Jones reportedly spoke of the struggle to find shelter as they traversed swamps and aimed for Way's Bluff Moore's Ferry two miles away before separating and succumbing to the cold river night.

Well Known Lady Dies at Baton Rouge
Mrs Clayton Sanders died at her Baton Rouge home at five Sunday morning. She was Miss Mildred Smith of Ruston, taught in Cedar Grove and Shreveport, and moved to Baton Rouge two years ago after marrying Clayton Sanders. Survived by husband and two young children, eight year old Clayton Jr and two year old Elizabeth Anne, along with parents Mr and Mrs Rhodes Smith of Simsboro and siblings. Funeral in Simsboro with burial there. Farmers face annual gamble with nature and then with market.
