Ruston Teen Hero Saves Home From Grease Fire

Goon Smith a 14 year old of Ruston acted quickly Sunday morning when a pan of grease caught fire in the Smith household on North Trenton. He grabbed the pot and carried it outside suffering severe burns on one hand. The Ruston Fire Department commended his meritorious action and noted it could have saved younger family members.

Former Ruston Resident Dies Services Held

Ann Brewer Dillard a Lake Providence resident since moving from Ruston nine years ago died Sunday morning at Fast Carroll Hospital after months of illness. She was 42 and a Presbyterian Church member. Services were at First Methodist Church in Lake Providence with Rev. George York officiating. Burial followed at Providence Memorial Park Cemetery under Gay's Funeral Home guidance.
