Dairying as a Supplement to Main Crop
Extension Service argues dairying can provide steady income without harming cotton, rice, or cane. Mississippi shows dairy leadership and cotton gains where dairying expands, with 50 percent and 38 percent increases in cotton and creamery areas, respectively. Eradicating the cattle tick could enable widespread tying of dairying to cotton on small farms, boosting prosperity.

Dual Job Case Appeal Argued In Louisiana Supreme Court
In New Orleans on January 7 the Louisiana Supreme Court heard arguments by Attorney General Percy Saint to enjoin the Highway Commission from paying salaries to three legislators serving as special counsel. The suit, a test case affecting fifteen other lawmakers on state payrolls, contends such dual roles violate good government. The case began with Judge W Carruth Jones in Baton Rouge granting an injunction. The commission sought a mandamus and related writs to overturn the judge’s suspension, but the high court denied the request, sending the matter through its regular process.
