First white baby born in Lincoln parish in 1960

James Hal Barker, born January 2 at 7 25 a m to Dr Hal B Barker and Mrs Barker of Victory Bri n Lincoln parish, weighs seven pounds four ounces. The Barkers will receive gifts from local merchants including canned Pet mil le, a sterling silver feeding spoon, laundry service, photos, milk supply, film and flashbulbs, and a hospital ambulance service offer. The couple’s elder and mother Reby Cattsey are reported as doing well.

Don Rockett ASC Manager Succumbs

Don L. Rockett 45 district manager of Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service died Tuesday in a local hospital. Funeral services set for 2 pm Wednesday at Spears Kimbell Funeral Chapel with Rev Rel Gray officiating. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Survivors include widow Eleanor Rockett of Ruston and three sons Robin Gayland and Brian, plus parents and siblings in Rayville and nearby cities.

Rev Marvin Jones Called As Pastor Of Cook Church

Rev Marvin Jones will become pastor of Cook Baptist Church on Marvin Jones Road. He currently directs at Temple Baptist Church in Ruston and will assume duties Sunday January 17. The church is remodeling the parsonage with a breakfast room new tiling ceilings and furnaces. Jones has pastored in Mississippi and Arkansas and did missionary work in Arizona. He is a graduate of New Orleans Baptist Seminary and has a wife and three children Angela Deborth and Jerry. An interim pastor, Rev Max Lee, a LSU student, has led since December 1.

Farmerville Crash Leaves Teen in Critical Condition

Four teenagers were injured in a car crash one mile north of Farmerville. Dawn Tucker, 16, was listed in critical condition at Madison Hospital with severe shock, chest injuries, a crushed pelvis, and multiple fractures.
