The Barnett Springs Home Demonstration Club met February 4 at Mrs. Parkman's home with hostesses and officers attending. The meeting opened with the club collect, minutes and treasurer's report were read, and reports on the club project were given. A demonstration on Setting in Sleeves highlighted the session, and plans were set for a meeting at Mrs. Riser's home.
Thursday night gatherings honored Mrs. humus Franklin with a pink and dhie shower at her home. About twenty ladies attended, presenting gifts while refreshments were served. Other social visits included Mrs. Davis Simmons and Mrs. Thdkes Melcartin hosting and visiting relatives, with various small parties and a Surprise birthday noted in the week.
The 0. N. Reynolds residence hosted a Creole themed evening honoring Rosemary Roach with an Empire gown in opal blue and emerald silk. Guests included local social figures and guests from Ruston, Alexandria, Monroe, and Monroe, sharing a formal menu of mixed dishes and elaborate decor centered on hearts and floral motifs.
The Louisiana Supreme Court rules that Marie the widow and Charles his son receive portions of Pierre’s property while Josephine who believed in good faith she was married also gains. The decision rests on community property rules and the good faith marriage doctrine.
The Department Club presents a February 12 fashion show by Lewis at the country club at 3:30 pm with twenty eight models and music. Narrator Mrs Walter Horwards previews the new silhouettes and waists while a post-show reception follows. Models include Mrs Abel Harris and many others listed. committee chairs are Mrs Vera Borgeron and Mrs Lucille Narcoway.
