Voters Face Rulings On Discrimination Case
Judge Dawkins of the Western District of Louisiana ruled sharply that Negro voters were discriminated against on racial grounds. The case, filed June 7, 1960 under the Civil Rights Act of 1957, followed a Washington Parish finding where Citizens Council pursued a similar purge of Black voters. About 85 percent of the Negro voters were affected versus 0.7 percent of white voters.
