The notice references Act 162 01 P10 as amended of the Acts of Louisiana and relevant sections 1b to 158 inclusive. It states that notice is hereby given in accordance with law and directs recipients to take note of the official action, deadline, and filing requirements as specified by the statute.
The Town of Simsboro in Lincoln Parish Louisiana advertises a lease auction before the 9th day of September 1861 at 1 00 o clock for streets and alleys within the corporate limits and for mineral rights in Section 21, Township 18 North Range 4 West. Payments include one eighth of oil and gas, two dollars per long ton of sulfur, ten cents per ton of phosphate, and one eighth of other minerals, with a maximum lease term of three years and annual delay rentals. Descendants of Robert E and Mary R Russ, Ruston founders, gathered at the Ruston Recreation Center on Sunday August 6 for a family reunion. Thiru Covington gave the welcome, with a luncheon that followed. Relatives from many states attended and plans were made for an annual reunion with elected officers.

On Saturday August 5th Mp and Mrs Jack Jimerson with Burkett Heard and Lois hosted a fish fry for arriving relatives and local residents in Rus ton. About thirty five attended and comments indicated a successful reunion. A note of thanks was sent to Saddie McLane for the use of the Recreation Center.
R M Foster marked his 79th birthday with family visitors from Bas kin Homer St Paul Minn Ruston and Houston plus friends from Hico and nearby towns. Relatives gathered including W R Williamson Date Foster Una Wasson Lizzie Doss Pat Deason and others. A baby named Richard Craig was born to Dickie Williams of Bossier City on Saturday.
Union Parish All Stars went to New Orleans to compete in the National Dixie Boys League tour, finishing 3rd. Four D Arbonne players were named to the All Star team as others from the area attended the games. Other local notes cover travel, visits, and upcoming school plans.
Sickness reported locally with several hospital stays. R S Pennell hospitalized last week and improving. Family and friends including Chandler and Veron visit Glyn Chandler. others travel to Wichita and Monroe. Local residents host meals, attend weddings, and enjoy weekend outings at Woodland Park and nearby areas.
Mr and Mrs John Garner and sons John Kindell and James Kelvins of Monroe spent part of their vacation last week with their parents O Mienma and O Panna Stewart They also visited relatives in Arcadia and Ruston Visiting Mr and Mrs Odie Singleton over the weekend were Mes D L Sansford and Mrs Dewey Singleton of Monroe Mr and Mrs Humpty Williams of Ruston Mr and Mrs Paul Ray Emmons and family Mr and Mrs Wilber
Mrs A F Holstead reports a Thursday tea shower at an Alabama church for Bob Perritt and Nancy Hughes with guests from Arcadia Ruston and Shreveport. Edd Davis took photos while Miss Ricky Joe Hood remains ill in Arcadia hospital. The couple plan to marry August 24 in Cullen and a revival at Alabama Baptist continues through August 20.
