Bankers and farmers network at annual farm clinic series

The Louisiana Bankers Association sponsors a state wide Bankers and Farming Clinic Series with agricultural extension service, vocational agriculture, Farmers Home Administration, and other groups. Clinics will visit parishes West Carroll Winn Avoyelles Lafayette and other areas this spring. Morning farm visit and luncheon precede an afternoon discussion on farm finance needs and modern agriculture. Young farmers will be special guests and the program marks a decade of growing banker farmer ties.

Easter program luncheon at Student Center by Woman's Department Club

The Woman's Department Club held its annual Easter program luncheon at the new Tech campus Student Center. Mrs. Paul M. Davis welcomed guests to the second floor dining hall where white damask tables held straw baskets and spring flowers. Mrs. G. E. Sandoz and Mrs. L. K. Wells presented songs and readings by Arthur Stone, with selections from Nevin, Herbert, and Longfellow. Special welcomes were given to out of town guests, and a long list of attendees registered for the event.

Mrs Simmie Whitman Hosts Choudrant Club Meeting

The Choudrant Home Demonstration Club held its regular meeting Thursday afternoon at the Whitman home. Members discussed club activities and planned upcoming events.

District Retired Reece Held In Morte

The April meeting of the Fifth District retired teachers met at the home of Mr. and Mrs Louis Slater in Monroe. President R J Vining opened with prayer led by H E Townsend. Fifteen members attended and minutes were read and approved. A McFarland reported on the state meeting at Bolton High School Alexandria noting officers elected and Act 27 reapproval ahead. Wives of retired teachers may become active members upon paying one dollar annually. Robert Mount described a planned overseas trip starting in September. Attending Rus ton were Townsend Mount McFarland L Vining and Mrs Winifred Haynes.

Reckless Driving Charge Brings 50 Fine in Court

Leman Ray Sullivan was fined 50 dollars and 30 days costs for reckless driving in district court. It was the sole criminal case in the latest session held at the home of Mrs. Simmie Whitman with sixteen members present. The meeting opened with Mrs. W. L. Aswell presiding and the group recited the Club Collect. Minutes from the prior meeting were read and adopted. Reports covered Home Management Consumer Education Gardening and Nutrition. Mrs. Fred Taylor presented a demonstration on Human Relations Getting Along With Other People. During social hour, sandwiches cakes coffee and iced cakes were served to attendees.

Housing Conference Set at Grambling April 22 23

Grambling College announces the fourth annual Housing Clinic to be held Friday and Saturday, April 22 23. Sponsored by Grambling College Grambling Improvement Association and parish state and federal agencies the clinic features six group sessions on home and business problems and two major addresses. Keynote speaker for the Saturday session at 9 00 a.m. is Hobson Reynolds assistant to the FHA commissioner in Washington.
