Freedom of the Press in the Superstate Debate
A commentary warns American journalists that a powerful superstate would control the press and harm private enterprise. It argues that independent newspapers and the American Newspaper Guild resist government overreach, and cautions that a press under state influence would lose its role as a free interpreter of news.
