Cheaper to move grain west than east says study
A National Transportation Agency study finds westbound grain shipments cost 1.04 per tonne less than eastbound transports over 1610 kilometres from central prairies to the West Coast. Economies of scale, Rogers Pass tunnel effects, and port grain moves spur the price gap, challenging prior beliefs and policy considerations.

Safety rules for farm buildings near power lines
Granaries and other structures should be at least nine metres from overhead lines with doors facing away from lines and wells kept the same distance. Keep bale stacks and hay near easy access, avoid repairs under lines, and maintain three metre clearance for irrigation pipes. Look up before crossing lines and lower grain when moving beneath lines. contact local Hyro office for help.
