Project Launched To Stem Soil Erosion In Manitoba

A new conservation forage policy announced by Hon. R. D. Robertson aims to seed down step slopes and gul lies to grasses rather than grain. The program covers about 20 000 acres in the first year with one third seed cost paid by government and two thirds by farmers. Eligibility hinges on erosion problems assessed by agricultural representatives with the Soils and Crops Branch, offering 10 acre demonstrations per farmer for a year on a per district quota basis.
