Social notes from Shellmouth weekend visits and milestones
Dr Ridgway and Mrs Ridgway spent the weekend with Mr E R Ridgway. Mr Alex Petz left for Regina. Mr and Mrs P M McLaren and Shirley of Biggar visited with Mr and Mrs A Busch and relatives. Misses E and M Busch of Winnipeg attended the Ebert Haas wedding. Mr and Mrs B Davidson and family of Bradwardine were guests of Mr and Mrs Chesnick. Theodore Sask saw Clayton Ridgway admitted to the Masonic Lodge. Mrs M Webber returned from hospital in Russell. Mrs Schappert, recently in Regina hospital, visits daughter Mrs W Patterson. Shellmouth school children won cups for marching and balling at Inglis Field Day.

Manitoba farmers urged to spray weeds early in crops
Manitoba farmers should spray weeds early as five million of six million acres planted may carry weeds needing herbicides. H E Wood of the Department of Agriculture says treatment with 2 4 D or MCP depends on crop type with 2 4 D for wheat and barley, MCP for oats flax and legumes, and TCA for green foxtails in flax and field peas. Early treatment reduces weed competition, boosts yields, and lowers chemical use. June meeting held at the church with N A Robertson assisting and weather noted.

Gimli Women’s Meeting Highlights and Donations
A Donor Mrs. W. L. Keating gave a quilt at the meeting of the Don School for Women. The gathering focused on Evangelism with a delightful report and included a request for Gimli Fresh Air Camp supplies. The Mizpah Benediction was shared in unison to close.

Farmers Warned on Herbicide Use and Drift
