Women’s Inc Ute entertains sixty grandmothers here
Russell Women's Institute entertained over 60 grandmothers from Russell and surrounding district Saturday afternoon in Knox United Church parlors. Mrs. Lester Leifer presided. Each guest received a corsage after a motor trip. A program with Mesdames T. W. Shaw Georgeie, Liz Oumater, G Grasby, Miasen Kerhleon Wallace and L. Se Leiter followed. Mrs. R. J. Coulter, Silverton, spoke for the honor guests, with Mrs. Leifer replying. Refreshments and a social hour completed the program.

Russell Calf Club led by Alwyn Coulter and LeRoy Stevens attended a field day in Foxwarren last Saturday for stock judging. The Young Mens section with Hedrick Peddie provided transport with five cars. Horses and beef cattle classes showcased ready material. The club competed with Solagirth of Manoba Foxwarren and demonstrated judging skill. Score cards track points to choose Russell representatives for Brandon Pair. two more contests remain before decision.

Poultry Field Day Planned at Russell Home
A poultry field day is set for Monday June 21 at the home of Jas Thickett, five miles southwest of Russell. A C McCullough will lead wax plucking and discuss hatchery policy, with possible egg candling and grading demonstration. D C Foster will speak on chick feeding and rearing challenges.

Mrs. Fraser of Oak River was named president of the Women's Missionary Society of the United Church at the twelfth annual meeting held December 4. Reports showed increases in givings. Miss Marjorie Stedman spoke on home mission work from Pt. Douglas, Winnipeg. The conference highlighted junior work, Mission Bands and circles, with several bands earning high standing and banners. Officers for the coming year were elected, and Mrs. Simmie was farewelled after five years. Mrs. J M Fraser was welcomed as successor.

2 C F Conference And Dance A Success
Delegates from Oakburn Rossburn Birdtail Foxwarren Binscarth and Russell met in Angueville last Thursday for a 2 C F conference with 32 delegates. Hedrick Peddie spoke on organization plans and a committee was urged to attend the June 23 Shoal Lake convention to present a brief to the Surgeon Commission in Winnipeg. Protests will be sent to the federal government over hay and grazing permit costs in the National Park. A petition from a recent CCF meeting in Mears circulated widely and will be presented to the local member and the national parks minister. The gathering closed with a dance and Jock Gow entertaining during lunch.
