Dr and Mrs W V Whiteside announce the engagement of their daughter Donna to Fraser Robin son of Mr and Mrs Amos Robin of Asessippi Manitoba. The wedding is planned for June 15 at Brentwood Bay United Church Victoria. Donna is a 1967 University of Manitoba home economics graduate. Fraser is a 1965 University of Manitoba science graduate.
The Brightside annual casket service will be held Friday June Bets. Mrs Mary Phillips pupils will be heard in recital Tuesday June 11 at 8 pm in Knox Church Auditorium. A public meeting is set for Thursday June 13 at 8 pm at the Colle ate and all those in festival work are urged to attend.
Sixteen members and three visitors attended the Young Women's Club meeting at Mrs. Ruby Needham’s home. Mrs Shirley Main will visit for two weeks, flowers will be placed in the church each Sunday until freeze-up, and Mrs T Ward demonstrated various products. A new coffee maker was received for the church basement, and a luncheon was served by Mrs B Loney and Mrs M Berg.
The Russell Agricultural Representative area held the May 30 4 H Public Speaking event at Millwood School with Gail Cartwright as chairman. Mary Eshelby won first place scoring 86 and Peggy Witty second with 83, earning Interdistrict contest eligibility.
The Canadian National Railways museum train will tour Western Canada from June through August, visiting Winnipeg Portage la Prairie Dauphin Neepawa and Brandon in Manitoba with shows from June 16 to July 2 and other stops across the region.
