Pioneer Frank Burdett and the prairie farm legacy
Frank Burdett recalls receiving his first land in a Birtle area prairie settlement where pioneers founded Burdett school. He farmed past 80, valued the wheat pool movement, and supported the wheat board as vital to farmers’ finances. He stood by his beliefs despite local pushback. He once pledged wheat rather than cash to honor a mortgage, reflecting early century farm ethics.
