The Russell RM council declares reelection after a tied Ward 2 vote. On Oct 28 both candidates had 16 of 61 votes. a November 16 runoff drew 42 voters, with incumbent Conrad Irelane winning 25 votes. New council includes Reeve Jordon Bryer, Ward 1 Alvin Kington, Ward 2 Conrad Irward, Ward 3 Marshal Glas, Ward 4 Dennis Trinder.

Russell RCMP Enforce No Parking by Law in Town
The Russell RCMP remind the public that the No Parking By-Law is enforced in a 75 foot zone in front of the Russell Arena with fines for violations. Several tickets have already been issued. They caution that the lake ice is unsafe to drive on at Silver Beach. A drowning was reported at Winnipegosis and a car broke through the ice at Silver Beach.

Manitoba deficit seen dropping ten percent in 1965 84
Manitoba's 1965 84 deficit is forecast to fall about 10 percent to 521.2 million mainly from lower expenditures. The Quarterly Financial Report released by Finance Minister Vic Schroeder notes a revised deficit down 1.3 percent from prior estimates with about 267 million linked to capital borrowing.
