Neches River Lake Idea Outlined For Tri Cities Area

Frank W. Ebaugh of Jacksonville laid out the plan for a Neches River Lake to spur industrial growth in Rusk Jacksonville and Palestine. He spoke at a Tuesday meeting for area reporters and radio men, detailing how the proposed lake and water authority could attract industries, create jobs, and provide ample water resources for a rapidly developing region. The August 28 confirmation elections will decide membership in the authority and future tax financing steps.

Red Cross Chooses Cherokee County Leaders at Rusk Meeting

Richard Johnson of Alto was elected chairman of the Cherokee County Chapter of the American Red Cross at a Rusk gathering. Charles Decker of Rusk became vice chair, Mrs. Mary Burton of Jacksonville secretary, and E. R. Gregg Jr. treasurer. Fourteen attended and approved sending about $2,000 to the national organization, part of the spring campaign.
