Emil Bisttram and TRAP Murals at New Mexico Courthouses
The TRAP program funded artists to decorate government buildings for uplifting public art and steady work. Emil Bisttram completed a Chaves County Courthouse mural in 1936 after Peter Hurd declined the Roswell courthouse commission. The archive notes correspondence with Olin Dows and Bisttram about recommendations for New Mexico artists and mentions the Roswell courthouse project. The study sits within the Community-Minded exhibition at Roswell Museum.
