Boy, 13, Builds Homemade Car Stolen Vehicle Report

Tucson police report 13 year old Robert Svob claimed a car was stolen. He described the vehicle as having lawn mower wheels on back a tubular pipe frame and powered by a gasoline motor from a washing machine. He said the build cost 25 dollars.

First Set of Hearings in Roswell Groundwater Case

Special master William C. Schauer led the first hearings in the ongoing Roswell groundwater dispute between the State Engineer and Pecos Valley Artesian Conservancy District seeking to re adjudicate underground water and halt illegal irrigation estimated at 18000 to 30000 acres in the Pecos Valley. Findings cover eight cases with 10 individuals as of yesterday. The contested hearing targets township 14 south range 25 east in Chavez County with Joe and J T Mitchell represented by G T Watts. State engineer and PVACD attorneys are Charles Harris and Jack Love. PVACD covers about 100 townships and aims to resolve water rights in about 26 townships. The Clyde Keith hearing is set for Oct 5.

New Contract To Boost Wages For Steelworkers

A three year contract between American Company and United Steelworkers raises wages by 212 cents hourly for 20 006 workers in 37 plants coast to coast. Increases start October 1 with 72 cents, then seven cents on Oct 1 1957 and Oct 1 1958. Current starting wage is 1 82 per hour.

Ace Photographer Hyman Fink Dies at 59 on TV Set

Famous Hollywood photographer Hyman Fink died of a heart attack at 59 while preparing a layout of pictures of Jane Wyman on the set of her filmed television show. Fink had been staff photographer for Photoplay Magazine for 23 years and knew many stars by first name.

FBI to Conduct Police Training School in Roswell

The FBI will hold a police training school in Roswell from November 26 to 30 with sessions 1 30 to 4 30 pm and 7 30 to 10 30 pm. Chief Tommy Thompson requested the program and N R Johnson of Albuquerque said topics include New Mexico arrest search and seizure evidence note taking and report writing and public relations. U. S. Invites Russians to View Campaigns

The United States invited government officials or observers from the Soviet Union and four satellite states to witness the end of the U S presidential campaigns. A State Department spokesman said the invitation is not for a state visit, and officials expect lower rank observers such as professors.
