President Carter, facing a 1.1 percent rise in consumer prices, met with his economic policy advisers at a breakfast meeting and planned a midday session with the same group and Fed Chairman Paul Volcker. No quick inflation measures were expected.

Roswell Public Library director Tyron Emerick was arraigned in Magistrate Court on embezzlement charges after a routine audit found unexplainable checks. Police say Emerick wrote 23 checks to himself totaling 7155 dollars plus 450 dollars for miscellaneous advances between 1978 and 1979 and issued numerous other salary advance checks to staff. Emerick was released without bond on his own recognizance and is restricted from leaving the state.
The U S Air Force Academy Concert Band will perform at 7 p.m. Oct 7 in Pearson Auditorium with all tickets distributed by The Daily Record. A preliminary hearing is set for Oct 17 at the Chaves County Courthouse on an embezzlement claim totaling about $14 000 though some funds may have been repaid.
